Velddrif, which started off as a small fishing community, is a popular destination for family holidays, fishing trips, water sport events and much more. Just off the River House's veranda, you'll find the Laaiplek slipway, where locals launch their fishing boats and often return from sea with hulls filled to brim with the day's catch.
The River House is situated between Port Owen and Laaiplek, where one can enjoy the best of both worlds: the wide Berg River and the vast beaches of the West Coast. From fishing to diving and water sports to relaxing on the veranda, the picturesque West Coast is the amateur photographer's paradise.
Riverhouse is perfect for family vacations, weekends away or to spend with a group of friends. Besides the ample sleeping space, this self-catering guest house features two large braais and a comfortable living area that opens up onto a veranda with a zig-zag sliding door that extend the living space with the outside.

Main Bedroom
This double room opens onto a small private veranda through a large sliding door. It also has incredible views of the river and jetties and has an en-suite bathroom.
Guest Bedroom (double)
This bedroom has a double bed and built-in wardrobe, and has a fresh and welcoming West Coast feel to it. A large window looks out onto the side of the house, with jetties and the local fishery in the distance.
Guest Bedroom (twin)
This twin room features two single beds, perfect for children or travelling companions who do not mind sharing a room. The beds can be combined to form a larger King Size bed on request.
Living Area
The living area features a dining-room table for six, a lounge and a large inside fireplace to slice through the cold of winter or enjoy an inside braai with friends and family. The distinctly West Coast inspired décor makes it feel like you are on the beach watching the yachts go by, even with the blinds closed!
Kitchen
The River House's kitchen is modern and fully equipped, with a gas-top stove and oven, microwave oven, toaster, fridge with a freezer compartment and counter space for food preparation. The adjacent scullery has a dish-washing basin, deep freezer and an outside door.
Veranda
Probably the area where guests spend most of their time, the veranda features a large wind sheltered braai and ample space to relax and watch yachts go by on the Berg River. The large wooden deck is perfect for outdoor breakfasts and lazing in the afternoon sun. |
