At the foot of the ancient Magaliesburg mountain range where once elephant roamed, 70 kilometers from Johannesburg in the Western Transvaal, lies a unique experience in African hospitality.

Well known sculptor Charles Gotthard has a beautiful studio at Out of Africa, where he conducts art and sculpture workshops as well as art therapy talks and workshops.

Nowhere else can you be spoilt by such personal service, magic food and wines.

At weekends a minimum 2-night stay applies. Breakfast can be taken at our small restaurant or as a champagne brunch picnic basket at the river.

For dinner (separate charge) you may have ‘dinner baskets’ served cosily in your suite with candles. In the summer time braai baskets are available. As an alternative you can enjoy an a la carte dinner at the Goblins Cove Fantasy Restaurant, just 11km's down the road.

Delicious brunch picnics can be provided on the river for day visitors at the weekend. .

Out of Africa is situated just outside the village of Magaliesburg on the R24/ Krugersdorp, Rustenburg / Sun City highway. We are 75 kms from JHB and 90 kms from PTA.

From Johannesburg: Follow the Beyers / Naude offramp of the Roodepoort highway at the robot turn right towards Honeydew, follow until you see the PTA N14 HIGHWAY spiral down onto the N14 *keep towards KRUGERSDORP on the N14. You will now get to a 4WAY / STOP (new Robot) big intersection, new development on the r/h turn RIGHT at this 4way stop STILL on the N14 TOWARDS TARLTON. Follow this road until the next T-JUNCTION. GARAGE Infront, You will see a sign saying HEKPOORT R563 to the RIGHT turn right and then shortly after that the road forks to the LEFT towards VENTERSDORP keep LEFT on the Ventersdorp Rd!! UNTIL you get to the next 4WAY-STOP/ this will be crossing the R24 TOWARDS RUSTENBURG/ MAGALIESBURG! TURN RIGHT at this crossing, Magaliesburg will now be about 15kms from here.

As you come through the village of Magaliesburg you get to the 2nd traincrossing keep to your RIGHT ON THE RUSTENBURG ROAD ,we are 1.5 KMS outside the Village,on the right hand side. We have a WOODEN FENCE with “OUT OF AFRICA” written on the fence.
