| Otters’ Haunt a secluded country getaway is tucked on the banks of the Vaal River 2km from Parys with access to the many wild islands and quiet channels, playground for otters, leguaans and waterfowl. The river is home to smallmouth and large mouth yellowfish. With its tranquil gardens, fields and river views, Otters' Haunt is a nature lovers’ paradise where the peaceful environment, comfortable rooms and friendly service create a private home away from home atmosphere, ideal for families, friends and business associates.
The River House, or Otters' Den, lends real meaning to graceful outdoor living. Walk in off the oak-shaded lawns and enjoy a refreshing swim in the swimming pool. The large roofed porch overlooks the pool with the river below. A large fitted kitchen fully equipped for family and social self catering opens out onto the sun porch overlying the pool and river below.
The self-contained Guineafowl cottage and Cormorant Cabin are plain and simple, accommodating 2 people. The cottage has a restful, out-of-the-way atmosphere and is named after the flocks of guineafowl that frequent the nearby field with an outlook over the lawns of Otters’ Haunt down to the Vaal River.
All rooms have linen provided with fans for summer and heaters and heated blankets for winter.
From Otters’ Haunt you can enjoy bird watching, fly fishing, whitewater rafting and canoeing, Vredefort Dome and battlefield tours. Arts, antiques and coffee shops can be explored in Parys.
